Do you have to be Orthodox to become a sofer?

I know I’m posting this just before Shabbat, sorry about that.

I understand Orthodox communities probably wouldn’t accept STaM produced by a non-Orthodox sofer, but do Conservative/Reform communities even offer training or classes for soferim, or do they just all use STaM produced by Orthodox Jews?

The only thing I’ve ever heard about in regards to not-entirely-Orthodox scribes is that some women have become soferim, but as far as I am aware, they are all Orthodox/MOdox (and have all been born Jewish or converted to Orthodoxy — note that I am a Conservative convert, and thus not halachaically Jewish, so definitely not eligible for being taught by an Orthodox sofer).
