Pretty much what the title says. I’m curious on if you (personally) consider patrilineal Jews to actually be Jewish. I know this varies greatly between denominations and temples, so I wanted to hear people’s individual opinions.
For reference, my father is Jewish and my mother is not. I’m in a 6 month introduction to Judaism course through my Jewish community center and I’m meeting with the Rabbi of a temple I’ve been to a few times to talk about formal conversion later this week. I “feel Jewish” but also probably would not label myself that way (at least until conversion/formally joining a temple that views me that way) because only some would consider me to be and I don’t want to mislead people. Definitely not here to start arguments, I’m just still learning and I’d just love to hear everyone’s thoughts. Thank you!
