Do I make my 12 yr old start Hebrew school?

So I’m a 45-year-old single mom from a long line of Cohen’s. But due to my mom’s personal struggles she did not teach me much at all. I never went to religious school, I never had a bat mitzvah. After my own lengthy battle with addiction I rediscovered my roots. I joined my local temple and my 5-year-old is thrilled to start school there. But my 12-year-old well. She’s been through a lot of trauma and she’s struggling with some depression. I’d really like to give her some direction and roots and community that come along with being Jewish. Anyone else begin yours or your children’s jewish learning as a preteen? I’m not sure if I should force her to do it or not. Thank you
