I have a couple necklaces (one says “chai” and the other says “bat mitzvah”) that I am not interested in keeping and wouldn’t be able to sell since they’re not made of any precious materials. Throwing them in the trash seems disrespectful, so I’m not quite sure what to do, but asking a synagogue to put them in their geniza seems kind of overkill. Any advice?
