Discuss the implications of the phrase "a chosen people".

Shalom friends!

I am helping someone who’s enrolled in a “comparative religion” course in college. I live in India. I have little to no understand about Judaism religion, culture and history. So, I would like to ask for some help on the question for an assignment:

Discuss the implications of the phrase “a chosen people”.

Please helping in providing the context and the verses where this phrase is mentioned/originated in the Bible and other sources such as related articles and stuff.

Also, I would like to know what are the ‘implications’ of the same according to you. I have seen lot of posts in this subreddit about the ‘superiority aspect’ of the question and how it percieved by other religions. I’m more interested in its theological and religious perspective.

Thank you!
