Deuteronomy 28 talks about communal reward and punishment based on adherence to the covenant, what does this mean today?

I was reading this section and wondered if and how it applies today. There’s a Jewish nation in the land of Israel so I’m guessing God is not too angry with us right now. Or maybe he is and that’s why we can’t seem to find peace with the Palestinians. But Israel has secular parts where people are not to practicing the covenant. Is there a theological logic to it?
