Daily blessings/rituals

Hi friends,

Like a lot of people, I have been rediscovering Judaism as an adult. I’ll be 33 in the summer. I grew up with a Jewish identity, celebrated the holidays, had a bar mitzvah, and visited family in Israel multiple times. I put a lot of distance between myself and religion as a teenager, and that continued til was about 27-28. I was really close with my grandfather, as I lived with my grandparents til I was 8. My grandparents were a huge part of growing up Jewish. When he passed, I found the blessings at the funeral and shiva to be very comforting.

Ever since 10/7, I’ve been trying to get more connected and involved aside from just celebrating the holidays. I’ve been reading “Living a Jewish Life” by Anita Diamant, and it’s been helping me a lot. We’ve been lighting candles at my mom’s house on Shabbat, and I’ve been singing Modi Ani in the morning, and the Shema at night. I haven’t eaten pork in about a month, and I’m working on not mixing meat and dairy. I also went to a Shabbat service at the reform synagogue, and went to my local Chabad house to put on tefillin. Aside from this, what else can I do during my day to feel more Jewish? I’m interested in learning more of the blessings that are said throughout the day. The only prayer book I have is from my bar mitzvah. It’s called “Gates of Repentance” so I’m not sure if this can be used outside of the high holidays.

Thanks in advance!
