Conversion: What should I do before contacting a rabbi?

I’ve been interested in converting to Judaism for a long time now. I’d like to convert to reform Judaism, as it aligns best with my beliefs, and is the only synagogue in my city.

I am aware that conversion takes a long time, but, what should I do before attempting to contact a rabbi?

Should I read The Torah in its entirety, or are just the first 5 books enough? What else should I read and do? I am determined to convert, vht I do not want to show up unprepared, as i do not want to be disrespectful.

Thank you for your help!
