Christians here. I have an important question, (not proselytizing).

From my understanding, Christianity and Judaism has different views on atonement. For example, Christians believe that without the shedding of blood, there is no remission (forgiveness of sins). It seemed like Israelites believed this at a time (Old Testament for Christians, Tanakh for you guys). However, this is different now for Jewish people. There’s no temple and no altar, so how do you atone for sins? I’m probably being an ignorant gentile so please excuse me for that. I’m genuinely curious about this. I know I could probably find answers for this online (and I’ve found some already), but I’m much more interested in hearing about it from you guys directly because I believe it’s good for discussion.

Again, as the title says, this is not me trying to proselytize. I’m trying to understand the relationship between your religion and mine better because it helps me understand my faith more. If you’d like to ask questions about what I believe as a Christian specifically (considering there’s so much disagreement amongst Christians ourselves), please feel free to ask.

Thank you for your patience. God bless!
