Challah alternatives

My understanding that the enriched braided loaf known as challah used for lechem mishnah is of Ashkenazi origins.

What are some traditional breads used for Friday night Shabbat dinner used to fulfill the mitzvah of separating challah and providing lechem mishnah in others traditions (Sephardic, Maghrebi, Mizrahi, Yemenite, Beta Israel etc)? Are these breads closely associated with Shabbat, or just the standard bread eaten throughout the week in those cultures?

Any good recipes to share?
