I’m very drawn to the teachings of Breslover Chasidim but one aspect I don’t fully understand is the practice of visiting the graves of tzaddikim and making pilgrimages like going to Rebbe Nachman’s gravesite in Uman. Apart from the obvious explanations that we should honor our deceased, can someone provide me with any more insight around the spiritual/mystical aspects of visiting a tzaddik’s grave and praying by them? I’m wondering for example, if a tzaddik’s spirit hovers by their bodies (perhaps at the ready for resurrection?) in some way that’s different than the rest of us- though that seems counterintuitive as my understanding is that a true tzaddik’s neshamah will go straight to Shamayim with no stop in Sheol. Everything I’ve learned so far from Breslovers makes total sense to me except I’m clearly lacking some understanding here. Any info/insight would be much appreciated!!!
