Can observant Jews marry secular Jews?

My friend and I were having a discussion about whether or not someone like me (a secular Jew) could marry an observant Jew and I’d like some thoughts/opinions about this. I’m ethnically Jewish. I’m very proud of my heritage and it is important to me to marry someone who is also ethnically Jewish. The question is concerning religion. My great-grandparents were orthodox, but I was raised reform/secular. I would like my future children to be raised in a religious environment and in the context of a marriage, I would be willing to become more observant, but do observant Jews ever marry secular Jews? Has anyone experienced this or seen it happen?
