In the process of becoming Jewish. Planning on attending a Simchat Torah party at my college Chabad (a pretty laid back one, not checking anyone’s halachic status or anything of the sort). Just checking if the Torah retains the same ritual status as it does in services while it is closed and not being used in a liturgical context?
