I was walking in a park in a fairly Jewish neighborhood this morning and heard someone playing the shofar. It was high holidays melodies (patterns). So I have questions.
Do some people blow the shofar for rosh chodesh? Today’s the 1st of Tevet right?
Is the melody always what you hear on high holidays?
Can you play other songs on the shofar or does everything just sound like high holidays?
Is this some Messianic nonsense?
We concluded someone might have gotten a new shofar for Hanukkah and was told to practice outside. But curious to see if anyone has other thoughts.
