best hardcover texts / translations for studying the tanahk?

i saw the “sefaria” website in the community info, and downloaded the app, but was wondering if there are any preferred translations or hardcover texts of the tanahk. i’m not jewish, but love religion, and have mainly studied daoism and buddhism. they often have limited english translations available (especially daoism), unlike christianity that has many. i’m unsure of how to go about finding a good translation. also, i just saw in the “sefaria” app, the customs “shepardi” and “ashkenazi”, and would appreciate some perspective on the differences.
