Belief in Geocentrism

Why is the belief in Geocentrism so important in certain branches of Judaism? To my knowledge there is so requirement in Torah to believe that the sun revolves around the earth, and it doesn’t impact the fulfillment of any practical mitzvos.

I’m not interested in debating the actual question of whether or not the earth revolves around the sun. I’m just trying to understand the motivation of those who deny it. What’s the point? Why is it so important to believe otherwise?
