i grew up in a liberal household but became more religious over the years and hope to raise my future kids orthodox.

i didn’t know you aren’t supposed to get baby clothes and baby stuff AFTER i give birth so i’ve been collecting pieces for my future kids (yeah might seem silly to some but i can’t wait to have kids thanks) i really don’t want to return them because i’ve got a quite a bit of stuff. i just think why is there this fear of not buying stuff before the baby is born? i trust in haShem that everything will be okay so what is the reason for this rule? from my understanding its just a custom but can someone please explain what i should do and more importantly WHY we have to wait after the baby to get stuff. thanks

fyi (im female, not married, no baby (obviously) )
