A Jewish husband and a non-Jewish wife

So, let’s say a Jewish man married a non-Jewish woman and they have a kid. Would that kid have the tribal status (specifically Levite) of the father while not being Jewish or would he have to go through a conversion (hi automod) to have the father’s tribal status? Or would he have no tribal status even after conversion because he didn’t have it at birth?

This is hypothetical, btw.
