I’ve come up with something called the “3 stages of Chabad”
1) rabbi’s house 2) storefront shul 3) free-standing shul (often purchased from a church)
(Sometimes there is a stage 4… newly-built shul to replace a purchased building)
Does this concept have a name in official Chabad circles?
I also noticed that some Chabad communities progress along the scale very quickly while others stall for long periods at stage 1 or 2. I wonder if Chabad insiders also have a standard for expected timelines and terms for the fast and slow tracks.
